Hosting a conference in a hotel is something others do. We, on the other hand, are building a complete tent city in the middle of a “sand desert” directly on the Jade Bay. In May 2011, the current JadeWeserPort in Wilhelmshaven was still a huge sandy area without electricity, water or IT connections.

Angela Merkel was convinced

An impossible location for a conference with 1,000 people? No, our unique concept convinced the decision-makers at the Federal Chancellery to let the Seventh National Maritime Conference with Angela Merkel as guest take place in Wilhelmshaven. Within a short time, a 9,000 square metre tent city including infrastructure with a get-together area for networking, a multimedia conference area with three workshop rooms, a plenary hall for 1,000 guests and a press centre for up to 150 press representatives with an extra room for the press conferences was created on the undeveloped site.
