The anniversary of the sea rescuers (Seenotretter) was all about honouring the rescuers’ achievements. In line with the current marketing strategy of the German Maritime Search and Rescue Service (DGzRS), we developed an extensive programme for the 150th anniversary of the DGzRS to complement the christening of a new rescue boat planned by the DGzRS on Bremen’s market square and the ceremony with the patron of the sea rescuers, Federal President Joachim Gauck. The public event focused on the altruistic work of the DGzRS.
With a Facebook campaign with sea rescue “boat ambassador” Klaus Lage in the run-up, a variety of event tools and a diverse stage programme, we staged the performance of the sea rescuers emotionally and sustainably. A special highlight was a choir of 300 primary school pupils from Bremen who sang the sea rescue song “Full speed ahead”.
On this day, it was possible to gain a lot of sympathy for the Seenotretter brand in front of a large audience. Nationwide, the event was widely reported in the press, radio, television and social media.
